About GIS Training

Africa Population Institute - Uganda in Conjunction with the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (Cen), Institute of Geography, University of Hamburg –Germany and IGU Commission on Biogeography and Bio-Diversity Organize a One Week Intensive training in Geographical Information Systems From the Monday 28th January to Friday 1st February 2019..

GIS training objectives:

  • To equip participants with hands on experience on mapping and digital data collection, computerization and dissemination.
  • To provide the state-of-the-art knowledge in Geographical Information systems as problem solving tool.
  • To familiarize the participants with the usage of application in management using GIS software at various levels.
  • To equip the researchers with the desired skills to handle interpret complex data collected by the GIS application for effective decision making

Pedagogy

Lecture discussions accompanied with hands-on sessions, Case Analysis and Individual Exercises by sharing experience and most significant change stories

Who can Attend

Faculty members of universities and other institutions of higher learning. Research scholars from various organizations including government ministries and the civil society. The program will be useful for discipline of Geography, Population studies, Medicine, Agriculture, Environmental and nature conservation, Management science and all Social Science branches.

The number of seats available for this GIS is very limited toonly 30 participants. The API reserves the right in the selection of the participant(s)allotted on the first-come-first serve basis

Important Instructions

The certificate of participation will be issued only after successful completion of the GIS program. Attendance in every session is compulsory and submitting the assigned course work is mandatory for awarding the Certificate of GIS. Participants are advised to bring in their personal laptops for hands-on session.

Programme Fee

Program Fee is only $200 USD equivalent to Uganda Shillings 750,000/=

Payment include, the program software, training materials, break teas/ refreshments and working lunch during the 5 program days.
